Well, with my BA in Political Science I decided to get an MFA in Dance and Choreography from Temple University - makes perfect sense, right? I later had doubts about the dancing thing and moved to DC and worked at Georgetown's Law School for a year, doing legal research for the library and several professors. I decided I did not have the kind of discipline needed to sustain that type of work, so I returned to dancing. I then spent some time teaching and dancing with several companies in Philadelphia, New York, and Houston. I then moved to Las Vegas, and eventually landed in Atlanta, where I have been teaching at Emory University since 2001. I have had the chance to perform with some really remarkable people and dance companies and have also had a chance to dance in Europe as well. I started my own company three years ago and have been working to build it with my girlfriend, Kathleen.
I still teach colorguard, we have a puppy, and my company just finished a major performance with the Vega String Quartet. These days our free time is taken up with rehearsals, taking care of the yard (which neither of us like), bickering over what curtains to buy for the living room, and trying to convince Abby, our puppy, to sleep later than 6:30 in the morning.
Someone please tell me she will eventually stop waking up so early...
